Birthday Party Details

August 28th, 2007 by Bob Somers

We’re celebrating our one year anniversary by throwing another online LAN party, with a huge thanks to the UnNatural Disasters (udsquad.net) for letting us party in their server! The CS:S server we’ll be partying in is:

uD|squad GunGame
8.9.8.154:27015

We might also be playing some SourceForts, so download that mod now at sourcefortsmod.com. The SourceForts server we’ll be playing in is my clan’s server:

HaVoK Clan Server
208.16.30.42:27015

Both servers are located in the central United States.

Also, here’s a list of times for all different timezones. If your timezone isn’t listed, go to timezoneconverter.com and put in the US Pacific date/time and select America/Los_Angeles as the source timezone. Then you can convert it to yours.

4pm Sat Sept 1 (US Pacific)
7pm Sat Sept 1 (US Eastern)
11pm Sat Sept 1 (GMT)
12am Sun Sept 2 (London)
9am Sun Sept 2 (Sydney)

At that time hop in the Podcast group’s chat room and we’ll head off to play some CS:S and SF to celebrate our 1st birthday. See you there!

UPDATE: One of our listeners, Abjure, has set us up with a Ventrilo server to use during the Birthday Party. Here are the details:
IP: podcastparty.ath.cx
Port: 3784

Computer Issues Really Suck

September 25th, 2007 by Bob Somers

So, you’re probably all wondering why it’s been so quiet around here right after our birthday bash. Well, I’m having computer issues… again.

My processor heatsink on my desktop just isn’t getting the job done, and the machine is overheating and locking up within 10-15 minutes of it turning on. If I try to play any games, well… it just tanks immediately. Even though I preordered the Orange Box, I still haven’t be able to play TF2 yet because it basically sets my processor on fire. :(

I’ve ordered a new heatsink and it should be here later this week, hopefully in time for something this weekend. Hang tight!

Microsoft and Bungie Officially Disband

Bungie announced it was officially splitting away from Microsoft to become an independent, privately held developer, Bungie LLC. Microsoft will continue to retain a minority stake in Bungie and continue its long-standing publishing agreement with the company.

“While we are supporting Bungie’s desire to return to its independent roots, we will continue to invest in our Halo entertainment property with Bungie […]” said Shane Kim, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios.

So, is the phrase “Halo entertainment property” another way of hinting at tons of Halo spin off’s? Time will tell.

Nintendo Offering Free Wiimote “Jackets” for Wii Owners

Perhaps an attempt to head off lawsuits before they gain any traction, Nintendo is shipping padded “jackets” with all new Wii systems and remotes. Current Wii owners can request free jackets for their Wiimotes through Nintendo’s website.

SCEE announces new 40GB PS3 to launch at €399 / $610 AUD

It’s official. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has just announced a new 40GB PS3 which will launch in Europe for the price of €399. It will be available starting October 10th. As predicted, the new model features two USB 2.0 ports rather than four and no longer includes the multi memory card port. Strangely, the model also loses backwards compatibility support for PS2 games.

College Student Recreates Halo’s Zanzibar Map Using Legos

First of all, if you didn’t play with Legos when you were a kid, I pity you. Secondly, this is absolutely epic. The guy spent 2 years and thousands of dollars recreating every detail from the level into a massive Lego creation. Check out the video where he guides you through his work of art.
