Want Your Very Own Companion Cube? Get One Here!

Alright, so it might not be an “official” Portal Companion Cube, but it’s a Companion Cube nonetheless right? On a related note, numerous people who’ve sent Gabe Newell emails about wanting a Companion Cube available in the Valve Store have been told that it’s already been in production for two months and it will be here in time for the holidays.

The Portal Gun in Half-Life 2? Sure!

Some guys over at Primo Technology have figured out how to bring the Portal gun to Half-Life 2. Just use GCFScape to extract your maps and scenes folders from your HL2 GCF, then dump them in your Portal game directory. Load up portal and play one of the maps using the “map” command via the console. Once in the game, use sv_cheats 1 and impulse 101 to give yourself all weapons, including the Portal gun. Enjoy surprising those Combine soldiers!

We’re Not Dead Yet!

December 22nd, 2007 by Bob Somers

So, I’m incredibly sorry for the epic gap, but here’s what’s been happening.

A few weeks after I got my new computer parts, (in which I got a 320MB 8800 GTS from eVGA), they released the 512 MB 8800 GT, which gets much better performance. Thankfully eVGA has a “Step-Up” program where you can trade in your card for a better one within 90 days of purchasing it. The GT was actually cheaper than what I paid for the GTS, so I’m getting the better card for free. It just so happens that I shipped off my card to be traded in last week, so the new one is on its way here right now. In other words, my desktop (with all the Steam Podcast audio files) is out of commission at the moment, but will be back online next week.

Also, I’ve been busy founding the SourceForts Mixed League, for which I’m a league staff member and the website guy. For those of you who play the mod, be sure to check that out. Registrations have closed for our first competitive season, but follow along and register for the next season as soon as the open up.

So yeah, that’s what’s up with me. But to quote Monty Python, “We’re not dead yet!”

No really, we’re not, I promise!

Sorry again guys, but my classes got really busy really fast. I’ve got my finals coming up this week, with my spring break the week after. I’ll do my best to get something together!

Thank you all for sticking around and staying subscribed through your podcatcher, or at least checking back every once in a while for updates. I really appreciate you guys understanding that we’re busy college students just like (some of) you!
